Our Story

Victoria Renaissance Faire Society is a non-profit founded in the Summer of 2024 to bring a more accessible and Indigenous focused RenFaire to Victoria! We acknowledge and respect the lÉ™k̓ʷəŋən peoples on whose traditional territory VNFC stands and the Songhees, Esquimalt and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples whose historical relationships with the land continue to this day. In fact, VicRenFaire was founded in our desire to bring the fun and magic of a RenFaire to the area and also highlight Indigenous history and magic!

We are aiming to provide an annual faire, with performances by local artists and local vendors. There will be an Indigenous vendors “Alley” and wandering performers!

We aim to highlight Indigenous joy and magic, and bring our community together for a fun event!

Heather MP is from a community based background with a mixed refuge and immigrant family and grew up in Northern/Northeast BC before coming to Victoria for school. Currently working in outreach and with several community rights based organizations and with families and newcomers, thee is very passionate about bringing advocacy and voices to communities. She is passionate about bringing life, creativity and vibrance to the community and city she lives in- and is ecstatic to be joining an organization that brings all of this to Victoria. Thee is also an avid writer and fantasy lover, gamer, and all things nerd. When not working or volunteering at organizations like Camas books, khalo Vardo (a Romani rights mutual aid organization), Victoria Immigrant and Refugee Centre, engaging in events with her synagogue/Jewish community or Romani community, thee’s usually with her dragon boating team or spending time writing, playing video games or obsessing over her cat.

At last years event, thee said to thous friends that if there was ever chance to be part of the Vicrenfaire board society, she would jump at the chance, and was more then excited when she got the call and get to be part of this amazing group of people. As a director-At-Large she is hoping to bring a unique perspective as she is part of a a community that often in events like these face a lot of racial stereotypes (whether intentionally or unintentionally) Thee is hoping to bring advocacy, education, and creativity to thee’s role at the Vicrenfaire.
