Our Story
Victoria Renaissance Faire Society is a non-profit founded in the Summer of 2024 to bring a more accessible and Indigenous focused RenFaire to Victoria! We acknowledge and respect the lÉ™k̓ʷəŋən peoples on whose traditional territory VNFC stands and the Songhees, Esquimalt and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples whose historical relationships with the land continue to this day. In fact, VicRenFaire was founded in our desire to bring the fun and magic of a RenFaire to the area and also highlight Indigenous history and magic!
We are aiming to provide an annual faire, with performances by local artists and local vendors. There will be an Indigenous vendors “Alley” and wandering performers!
We aim to highlight Indigenous joy and magic, and bring our community together for a fun event!
Meet our Board Members
Festival Director:
Hinox Wesley (all/any pronouns)
Hinox has spent their life inundated with fantasy and indigenous (Tsimshian specifically) culture. Hailing from Lax Kwa'laams/"Prince Rupert", with multiple generations that liked fantasy it was simply fate that put him here!
She has working on multiple festivals in the past. Seafest and holidays parades back home (PRSES), and volunteered with Pride, Quadra Village day, and multiple other organizations within Victoria. Fae are a professional actor, storyteller, GM, coordinator, puppeteer, and have the passion and magic ready for this renfaire. When not working on RenFaire ze can be found volunteering at Camas, prepping for veir next D&D (or other TTRPG) session, or enjoying nature!
